What is The Cottage?

By definition, a cottage is a comfortable, cozy dwelling place. A cottage might also be thought of as a safe and nurturing environment to gather. As founders of The Cottage, our desire is to provide quality homeschool enrichment classes that meet the needs of a variety of homeschool models, ranging from offering just a fun place to meet and form new friendships, to providing a more well rounded academic landscape for students to learn, grow, and thrive!

Our Story

Our story began when we came together as educators and realized the disparity between the needs of homeschool families in our local community and what programs- or lack thereof- were being offered. Upon speaking with many homeschooling parents, we decided to put together classes that would meet one or two days a week for the entire day, covering a variety of subject areas. This would allow students to connect and engage with one another on a deeper level, promoting the use of important social skills such as, collaboration, leadership, perseverance, conflict resolution and more. Also, the full day model allows time for students to get fully immersed in projects and activities they would not otherwise be able to in a one or two hour class.

Since beginning our program in the fall of 2016, we have received very positive feedback regarding our students’ growth both academically and socially. We hope you will join our community and experience the positive outcomes many of our families have shared!
